”Come on!” Steve growls and presses down.
Nothing happens.
’I need you to count to ten once they drop and then you need to press hard on my suit’s heart chakra until you hear a loud click. Or I scream. Got it?’
That’s what Tony had said when the electronic bugs had swarmed them. He’d sworn it would work. And now—
”Come ON!” Steve yells as he adds more pressure. It’s been what…twenty seconds? Thirty? How long can Tony’s heart last without his RT? He needs his goddamn pacemaker and Steve will be damned if he lets him die because of some electronic bugs!

”Tony!” Steve yells as brilliant light shoots up from the armor's chest. He digs his fingers to the side of Tony’s faceplate and releases the latch that keeps the faceplate down. It opens with a click, revealing Tony’s wide-eyed, pale face.
”Fucking ow,” Tony groans and pushes himself to sit up. ”Did we get them all?”
”Yeah, I think so,” Steve says and helps Tony stand up. ”I just hope nobody on the perimeter has a pacemaker.”
Tony snorts. ”It was a low-yield pulse. I’m always mindful of liability, Steve.” He sways slightly on his feet and Steve grabs him to stop him from toppling over.
His heart is still hammering from the fight and the anxiety of Tony’s heart not starting again which is why he doesn’t let go but yanks Tony against his chest and kisses him.
”Uh,” Tony says when Steve releases his lips.
”Um, heat of the moment?” Steve says and offers him a grin that doesn’t sit naturally on his face.
Tony narrows his eyes. ”We’re getting back to this later.” He glances around them and raises a brow at the heaps and heaps of newly lifeless metal bugs. ”Now, let’s take a look at these things…”
